Integrated design
The work of three contemporary artists will be integrated into the new museum.
Nicky Hirst
London artist, Nicky Hirst, will create a display for the new central gallery. A collection of evocative smells will explore memories, experiences and collecting.
Maria Lalic
Paintings by Bath-based artist, Maria Lalic, referring to the history of paintings and the origin of their pigments, will be integrated into the fabric of the refurbished buildings.
Michelle McKinney
Leicester-based artist, Michelle McKinney, will create the impression of a flock of birds flying across the windows of the birds gallery in fine woven metal.
The three artists' commissions were made possible by Grants for the Arts, part of the Arts Council’s work bringing great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in experiences that enrich people's lives.
