Youth inclusion and young offenders
Think Big! was the catalyst for a pilot project with the Devon and Cornwall Police Youth Offending Team (YOT) and Youth Inclusion and Support Panel (YISP). Four young men worked with RAMM's Audience Development Team, a youth worker and their staff to develop and published a Treasure Hunt that is now available to the general public at RAMM. The Treasure Hunt is of high quality: it's exciting and thought provoking and has proved very popular with visitors.
The process for the young people of engaging with RAMM was transformational including a greater understanding of the past and where they live but also more about themselves and their futures. The young people have developed their own relationship with RAMM, outside of the sessions, and regularly visit bringing friends and family. RAMM has developed new professional contacts
'Before I came to the museum I thought it was going to be really boring and why would you want to go to a museum. I came because it was a way to get out of school. But it's just awesome...I like the museum. I think the treasure hunt will help other people to be more involved and find out things'
