Anne Amosford
Anne Amosford - Senior Conservator (Costume and Textiles)
I care for the costume and textiles in RAMM's Collection. Prior to the opening of the redeveloped museum I was busy conserving and mounting items for display. Since the opening I have been preparing and moving the collection to our new store.
How I ended up at RAMM
I started my career in tapestry conservation at the Textile Conservation Centre in Hampton Court Palace then worked in private practice before moving to the V&A Museum. After many years working there, I and my family escaped to the country and RAMM.
Best part of my job
Besides getting to work on and see some wonderful textiles, one of the best parts for me is studying the construction of costume and researching the social history behind many items. I am now looking forward to working on more costume which will eventually replace those in the current displays.
What I like most about RAMM
Finally having great costume and textiles on display again.
If you see me in the museum, ask me....
Ask me about all the wonderful costume in the collection. There is so much of it and not all of it can be displayed at any one time.
