Behind the Scenes at the Museum exhibition
Behind the Scenes at the Museum was an exhibition by press and portrait photographer Jim Wileman who captured some of the museum moments that members of the public don’t normally see. The exhibition took place from 20 April to 2 May in Gallery 21 and 3 July to 7 October in RAMM’s cafe. RAMM gave Jim a ‘backstage pass’ to see how RAMM’s exhibitions are put together, to observe curators at work and see the delicate conservation work in the labs. He went on the roof with the Building Services Officer, watched the meticulous cleaning of the galleries, and visited the museum storage to see some of the many objects which are not currently on display.
This exhibition was a chance to see the museum from a different viewpoint, and to celebrate RAMM, its collections and its people.
Jim Wileman also offered visitors the chance to enhance their own photography skills, in a photo walk round Exeter in May.
