Elly Fitzpatrick – Audience Development Assistant
I am currently undertaking a six month placement with the Audience Development team here at RAMM. I get involved with lots of different projects, from helping to deliver exhibitions and marketing the Shop at RAMM, to assisting with family activities and souring books for our new family area. There are lots of different things to do and so many wonderful staff members to learn from.
How I ended up at RAMM
After completing a degree in Fine Art, I trained as a primary school teacher, specialising in arts education. I have always been interested in the role that museums play in providing young people with engaging and inspiring opportunities. Throughout my time as a teacher I really appreciated the impact that out of the classroom experiences have on learning. I decided that I would like to pursue a career that focuses on providing these wonderful experiences, not just for children but for people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Best part of my job
I really love the variety of work I get to do; in any given day I could be designing marketing for the Shop at RAMM, researching child friendly interactives for exhibitions and exploring RAMM’s astounding 150 year history in the archives! I am also very excited to have the opportunity to learn from the fantastic people who work here as there is such a wealth of experience and knowledge here at the museum.
What I like best about RAMM
This is so tricky, as there are lots of amazing things about RAMM. However, if I had to choose, I really enjoy seeing families having fun engaging in the activities around the museum.
