Building RAMM
It has been said that no English county contains so great a variety of building materials as Devon.
The mottled greys of Dartmoor granite; the chalky limestone, flints and chert from East Devon; the red sandstones and breccias from Dawlish and Exeter; the coral-crammed limestone and grey slates from South Devon; the pale sandstones from Mid and North Devon and the rusty clays pressed into service as bricks – together they have helped to create the architectural identity of the county.
