Viewing the gallery
The World Cultures gallery is a space dedicated to the museum's ethnography collection. It was opened to the public in 1998. This important undertaking was completed with a major Heritage Lottery Fund grant. The gallery space is split into two sizeable areas approximately 300 square metres in total. This allows us to display more than 1000 items at any one time, about 8 per cent of the ethnographic collection! The museum reopening in 2011 will be an opportunity to include material not seen before.
