Creative Collaborations Conference
17 May 2016
Artists working in different media will share their experiences of exploring and responding to historic collections and creating new perspectives on cultural heritage at a one-day conference at RAMM this November. It is also a chance to hear about the visual arts ecology in Exeter from partner organisations and the Arts Council Collection during its 70th anniversary year.
The conference features presentations from artists and curators, plenary sessions and a chance to view exhibitions in Exeter Phoenix and RAMM where exhibitions include new artwork by painter Kurt Jackson and sculptor Michael Shaw.
Speakers at the conference include artists who have produced artworks in response to RAMM’s collections: Mark Anstee, Professor Sonia Boyce MBE (and newly elected member of the Royal Academy of Arts), Rod Dickinson and Serena Korda, curators Matt Burrows (Curator, Exeter Phoenix), Jill Constantine (Head of the Arts Council Collection at Southbank Centre), Camilla Hampshire (Museums Manager & Cultural Lead, RAMM) and Kathy Norris (Project Manager, Spacex). The event will be chaired by Martin Thomas, Director of Exeter Cultural Partnership and RAMM’s Creative Programmer.
