Once a Warrior

Exhibition: Warriors of the Plains: 200 years of Native North American honour and ritual

Once a warrior

Men and women with military experience respond in words and art to "Warriors of the Plains", a British Museum exhibition about honour and ritual within Native American warrior societies.

From 12 October 2012, during the week of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the exhibition includes Once a Warrior, a digital display reflecting the views of West Country warriors of today.

Compiled from individual interviews and artwork inspired by Warriors of the Plains, the digital film is also online, including comments left by the public during the exhibition.

Once a Warrior serves as a bridge for better understanding of the personal codes that have guided combat across centuries, continents and cultures.

Funded by Arts Council England, this is a RAMM partnership with Aftermath PTSD, a group which uses art to raise public awareness and provide respite to sufferers of combat-related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
