RAMM exhibition: Compelled to Collect

Collaborative artists AbeySmallcombe are exhibiting a selection of small cob based objects in surprising places around the house.

Compelled to Collect was inspired by an artists-in-residency project at RAMM’s collection store and the remarkable similarities between RAMM objects and the collections at A la Ronde.

The exhibition is a partnership between RAMM, AbeySmallcombe and A la Ronde.

Jackie Abey and Jill Smallcombe have been collaborating for over ten years as AbeySmallcombe. Their craft is working with cob (a mixture of soil, straw and water), earth plasters and other natural beautiful, sustainable materials. They have carried out commissions for the Eden Project, Somerset College of Arts and Technology, Devon Guild of Craftsmen, the Met Office, National Trust and Sustrans cycle paths. They have also exhibited nationally, taught all age groups, lectured internationally and researched earth structures in Europe, USA, India, Africa and Australia. www.abeysmallcombe.com
