Student Work placements
Each year RAMM offers a range of student work placements to university and college students who are 18+ years of age. Work placements are an excellent way to explore career options within the museum sector, demonstrate initiative and gain practical experience. Placements are agreed for a fixed period and require a commitment of time from the applicant usually during office hours Monday to Friday, with occasional agreed weekends/evenings.
University student placements are only offered to those as a required part of a module on a undergraduate/postgraduate degree course.
College student placements are offered on the basis that you are 18+ years of age and have a genuine interest in studying a museums, art or heritage related course at university and your current academic path is commensurate with this.
We welcome applications from oversea students.
Student work placements are split into two categories:
- Fixed period, that are advertised below
- Flexible, that are constructed from our current volunteer opportunities that are marked as suitable for students
Fixed period student work placements for 18+
- There are currently no fixed period placements available. Please consider constructing a flexible placement from the current volunteer opportunities that are suitable for students
How to apply
If you are considering applying for a flexible student work placement then please initially look at our current volunteer opportunities to identify a suitable role and then email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your choice.
If you have a particular interest in a work placement with our Conservation Department then please see the Conservation Placement Page
The museum also offers work experience to students between the ages of 15 and 17 at set times in the year.
