Happy 200th birthday Albert!
23 August 2019
Please join all of us at the museum in wishing a happy birthday to RAMM’s namesake Prince Albert, who turns 200 on Monday 26 August. To celebrate the occasion, the Café at RAMM is offering a free cup of tea to every visitor named Albert who visits the museum between Tuesday 27 August and Sunday 1 September.
The husband of Queen Victoria, Albert was greatly interested in the arts and sciences throughout his life. Not afraid to challenge tradition, he initiated a number of reforms that lead to the modern royal family we know today.
With a statue that has looked down upon the museum’s Queen Street entrance ever since our opening in 1868, the Prince Consort has given far more than just a name to RAMM. Albert’s commitment to spreading the benefits of education and culture forms the cornerstone upon which we operate to this day.
