James Cook and the Exploration of the Pacific

Objects from RAMM’s world-class world cultures collection will be on display in a major European exhibition on James Cook and the Exploration of the Pacific. A rare woodworking plane from the NW Canadian coast, a staff of authority from the Easter Islands and a Tongan Club from RAMM’s collection will feature along side exhibits drawn from museums across Western Europe.

Kunsthistorisches Museum – Museum of Ethnology, Vienna, from 10 May to 13 September 2010

RAMM’s World cultures collections
RAMM’s holds one of the UK’s leading ethnographic collections. Designated a collection of national importance by the Museums and Archives Council in 1998, it includes artefacts from every part of the globe. The collection is particularly rich in artefacts from the Pacific, North America, Southern Nigeria and the Congo Basin.
