Search RAMM's collections online

Search RAMM's collections online

22 June 2011

Wherever you are in the world you can now find out about and comment on objects from RAMM’s collections via our new online database.

Over 5,000 records are on the database including much loved specimens such as Gerald the giraffe and less well known gems from the stores. Each record tells you some interesting facts and most have images.

Searches, tags and comments

You can search for objects and specimens in different ways but it’s best to use the simple search to dip into the collections or browse the whole database. You can also leave comments and tag objects with your own keywords. Dozens of objects have already have tags, comments and audio files from people who took part in RAMM’s Moving Here project which worked with people from around the country and across the world. These can easily be found using the Moving Here tag.

Help getting started

Learn more about searches, comments and tags from our help pages and find out some of our staff's favourite objects from a list of their themed searches.

The database is funded by Renaissance, the government programme for regional museums.
