21 November 2017
RAMM has won the Favourite Museum or Historical Attraction Category in the prestigious Primary Times Reader Star Awards 2017.
The museum was chosen by parents of children aged 4 to 11 across Devon. They made their nominations in an online survey on the Primary Times. 59,000 copies of the magazine are distributed through over 300 Primary Schools in Devon.
There were 8 different categories asking readers for their favourite: family attraction; family eating place; indoor play or activity centre; outdoor activity centre; museum or historical attraction; sports venue; party venue or entertainer; theatre or arts centre.

When voting for the museum readers mentioned the interesting artefacts, interactive exhibits, historical stories and diverse family events. Exeter City Council Portfolio Holder for Economy and Culture, Cllr Rachel Sutton, said “We are privileged and absolutely delighted to receive this award as it reflects the hard work staff and volunteers give to make sure that visitors whatever their age have a memorable visit. RAMM had record visitor numbers over the summer and winning this award reinforces its success as being one of Exeter’s top attractions. It’s always a delight to see our very young visitors dashing around in the bee tabards towing the activity packs along behind them as they explore the museum. We would like to thank Primary Times readers for voting for RAMM and look forward to welcoming them to our lively, fun events and activities in the future.” RAMM is one of the council’s flagship services.
Linda Edwards, Publishing Editor at Primary Times said: “We are thrilled with the extraordinary response to this year’s Reader Star Award survey and we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the readers who took part. The results are sure to help other local families decide what to do and where to go. Each individual category winner deserves worthy recognition, as they are clearly offering something that our readers want.”
