RAMM actively welcomes visitors with very young children.
Beastie Bags at RAMM have been specially designed for parents and carers to make the most of a visit with young children. Choose from a giraffe, owl, monkey or ladybird Beastie Bag and dress up as your chosen animal! They contain a selection of toys and ideas for exploring the museum, including a costume to wear, a hand puppet/soft toy, magnify glass for looking closer, a pair of binoculars for seeing things higher up out of reach, a mirror to see yourself with objects and an insect eye.
They are free and can be borrowed from both receptions.
You can also visit our free family friendly area in the World Cultures gallery. Take a few moments to read a book together or play the xylophone.
Gallery interactives are dotted around the museum which are perfect for very young children to interact with the collections. Dress up as a Romano Briton, try your hand at making a Roman mosaic, inspect insects up close or discover the Devon Longhouse with its little wooden animals.
New for 2024: RAMM is offering World music sessions especially for Under 5s. Musical Moments Around the World introduces under 5s to wonderful music from various cultures and gives hands-on opportunities to play many different instruments, learn new songs and find new places for music in young lives.
