Small World
The Small World project brings fascinating objects from our World Cultures collection right into your school, for an extended period of time, to enable in-depth, hands-on learning in Global Citizenship. The items can be used to enrich the Global dimension of your cross-curricular themes or to highlight specific aspects when teaching subjects such as History, Geography and Art.
The Small World package is made up of handling items to be used in class, quality images and notes to accompany each item, specialist book collections and a range of suggested teaching activities.
Curriculum suggestions are based on Global Citizenship, History, Geography and Art at Key Stage 3, although items can be used by students of all ages in many different ways to promote global understanding and respect.
The items are all connected with the theme of ‘Identity', and include textiles, clothing, accessories and adornments from all over the world. They are accompanied with object notes and quality images that can be used to provide information and inspiration for students' own work.
The collections are loaned to schools for two terms at a time in order to encourage a deeper connection with the items for an extended period of time.
