A letter from the Chair of the Friends
Autumn 2016 letter from Alan Caig, Chair of the Friends:
Another season begins, and the team has put together a fascinating programme with two lectures and two outings between now and Christmas – we hope to see many of you at those. This is our first Newsletter since the Annual General Meeting and so I am able to confirm that membership of the Friends will now rise to an annual cost of £20 for an individual and £30 for a couple. This proposal received overwhelming support at the meeting and I was able to report on the various letters and emails which you sent to me commenting on the move – they were taken into account. As a result we are asking you to alter your standing order as soon as you can, to make the process as smooth as it possibly can be. Our plans to spend your money now include the sponsorship of a major exhibition next year in RAMM, making something possible which would not have been without our financial support.
Because of the rise in the subscription (which brings us into line with most large museum Friends’ groups), we are holding the price of life membership for the coming year, so you can still join the Friends and avoid all future payments for £100 (£150 for a couple). As from next year, the life membership will go up in line with the annual membership, so this is an offer to grasp now if you can!
If you are not already a Friend, please consider joining and helping us to achieve so much more – adding important objects to the collections, ensuring they are cared for and helping more people to enjoy them. For further details contact firstname.lastname@example.org
In the meantime enjoy the coming events, and I hope to see you on the trip to Bath.
