In focus – Charley Harper
Charley Harper was an American Modernist artist (1922-2007). He is best known for his highly stylised wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations. Harper’s concern for migrating bird species is highlighted in RAMM’s Birds without Borders exhibition which features his famous illustration Mystery of the Missing Migrants.
In the Shop at RAMM we have the Mystery of the Missing Migrants as a 1000 piece puzzle alongside a flock of Harper’s birds available as stunning vinyl wall art, plus calendars, a diary, cards and more featuring Harper’s art.
Harper wrote, ‘For centuries, the neo-tropical migrants in this picture have shuttled between winter homes in the tropical rainforest and nesting sites in our woodlands. Now their populations are plummeting. Why? Habitat destruction Down There? Up Here? Each April, I listen anxiously to the dawn chorus for the return of my favorite, that world-class flutist, the wood thrush. Are silent springs forthcoming?’
